Q4. Who would be the audience for your media product?

Double Indemnity
Se7en
The main audience for our Thriller film would be would be males and females aged between 16-24. T This is because when when I did research in to Se7en which our thriller is similar to this age group rated it the highest and had reviewed it the most. This might be due to the fact that it had mainstream actors like Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt, also the story line and plot is glamorised to fit the mainstream film look that it wanted. But also the our film could appeal to 30-44 male audience due to the fact that the our Thriller like Se7en and also Double Indemnity are clever films with deep plots, complex and use of narrative like mcgiffins. Double Indemnity has these feature and the 30-44 males like this film I found during my research.

Audience profile:

This is Steve and he is 23 years old. He have a Stable Job and lives a quite, normal life. His favorite films are ones in which with deep plotted, gritty films like Se7en and Alice Creed. He also like the the cinema experience and prefers going to Cinema City then a mainstream cinemas like VUE. His other interests are gaming. Games Steve likes are GTA which LA noir is set. Also he like listen to non-mainstream music, which similar to his to the films he likes.

Q6. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing the Thriller opening.

Q3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media production and why?

Question 3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media production and why?

The media institution that might distribute our film is Vertigo Films. They distributed small to mid-budget British films like Sweeney- based on London cop and his team who a frame for corruption and want revenge; With Blood On My Hands- based on a man who leaves prison and want to changes his life for the better. These are gritty crime films which are similar to our production; this could also be used to advertise our film to audience of the people how what other film by vertigo like the 2 above. Vertigo Films distribute to UK cinemas like cinema city where these films do well, also they distribute to mainstream cinema chains like VUE and ODEON due to some mainstream actor and actress in films like the Sweeney. These films distributed by Vertigo  do well in the UK box office and not well over seas, in the UK the Sweeney made $7million.

Other distribution companies that might distribute our film are Entertainment Film Distribution. They are a UK distribution company and only distribute in the UK. The film they distribute are released to all cinemas but they do better in cinemas with niche audiences like Cinema City.   They have released a mixture of film some with small budget like Shooting Fish and some with large budget like Se7en which my group used for inspiration for our film because it resemble what we where trying to achieve which was a gritty crime thriller.

I think that our film would do better at cinema city rather then a mainstream cinema because it does not fit the mainstream stature and it would not apply to the majority of mainstream film watchers. The reason that it's not mainstream is due to the slow pace at which it is shot and that it create menace with out violence in it this is done through the characters action like crossing the face off on a picture and swiping the desk of all that is on it. This also could be why  our film might be distributed by Mubi. This is a online distribution company where people pay a subscription to watch the films on there, it has a wide range of film from blockbuster to low budget film. I think Mubi would be good our film distribution because our film relate to film already on their site and is suited to online distribution by not being mainstream and with now actor but not mainstream. The reason is is not mainstream are above in the previous paragraph.

how does the sewer scene from the third man use framing and compositiontechniques, mise en scene and cimemtography to create meaning, metophors and effect

The
figure 1
In figure 1 there two vanishing points which create confusion because one vanishing point is off shot which show that there is a long way to go until you get to the end and the other vanishing point on shot which show that the end is near. Due to this confusion is created because the viewers eye are drawn to two different places. Also the vanishing point are not in the middle, this is called off centre to create more confusion. Also the chiaroscuro lighting and the shadow creates the feeling of entrapment and this is emphasized by the police officers above him. Also another thing in figure 2 the square and angularity of the bricks and the riles show German Expressionism, which also create the feeling of entrapment as well by the use of the angular shapes . Also in figure 2 the water falling over the wall is a metaphor for Harry falling in to a trap or fall in to the abyss due to the crimes that he has committed. Also the water falling over the wall could be a metaphor to show falling to hell for Harry because of the crimes he has committed.  The horizon is not balanced so it create the feeling unrest and that events in the future is going to balance it out.

figure 2
figure 3
In figure 2 the shot is of Harry Lime being silhouette be a high contrast, chiaroscuro lighting. This show that there is hope but he can not reach it because of the obstacles in the way, in this case they are police and Holly. Also the bricks have an angularity about them to create the feel of claustrophobia by entrapping in the sewers. Also the feeling of virtigo by have the camera behind him and the water hitting his legs. This makes it look, like he is falling and that we are. The vanishing point in this shot is in the centre of the shot and that it finishes in the middle of the shot. This shows that it is becoming more clear about what is happening and also it kind of show that the end is near because of the fact that the vanishing point is in the shot. Another thing in figure 2 is that the dark shadows on the was show that there are place of darkness to escape to and hide in which give the opposite feeling to the vanishing points because is means that there is more place to run and hide in for the time being .

In figure 3 Hollie has just killed Harry Lime in the sewer and the vanishing points is in the centre of the shot and the it meet in the middle of the shot which creates a balance in the shot after Harry is killed and this relates to figure 1 where Harry is alive there are multiple vanishing points to create infusion and the feeling of being unbalance. Also the horizon line in this shot is balanced which create the sense of being calm because of Harry's death. Another thing in figure 3 is that the chiaroscuro lighting behind Hollie cast a show on the wall to show that there is a dark side of him or that he has just done something bad and that it is haunting him  in side! Also in figure 3 the angularity of the bricks show German expressionism and this create the feeling of entrapment and claustrophobia and this could be because he has just killed his friend and he feels bad for doing that.

P2 - Taking influence from Se7en, we are using a duffel bag as our McGuffin by having it placed on the floor (closed) with blood seeping through onto the floor. We are seeking to establish the character of Detective (???), a man who lost his wife to a kidnapping and murder and his unborn baby in the process. And so vows to find his wifes murderer and bring them to justice by any means.
